Holts Academy announces new ‘industry responsive’ curriculum

Holts Academy has announced that it will be unveiling an array of new courses over the coming months.

The new curriculum is designed to teach the skills that the industry needs now, and is the result of three years’ work and an industry wide survey undertaken by the Creative and Cultural Skills Sector Council. The survey was supported by Holts Academy, The British Jewellers Association, Goldsmith’s Company and other trade bodies.

The new curriculum includes, short courses, apprenticeships, business and retail workforce development programmes and vocational qualifications, including new degree alternatives and HNDs.

It follows on from the successful launch of a BJA-endorsed Workforce Development Programme for the Jewellery Retail Sector, with short courses aimed at beginners, intermediate, advanced and master class levels in design, technology and making subjects.

Holts is also launching a choice of business ‘short courses’ aimed at designer/makers or anyone who needs to brush up on business planning, IT, marketing, selling and finance or management skills. Each comprises a one day module, enabling the learner to combine different modules according to individual needs.
