Gecko appoints new sales director
Gecko Jewellery has appointed Richard Cox to be its new sales director.
Cox was previously a director at Design Objectives, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of craft and hobby products, including jewellery, has long experience in sales and describes his background as being in “Fast moving consumer goods.”
The appointment looks set to create a new programme of support from the company for the many independent jewellery and gift retailers it supplies, and it also heralds the expansion of the brand in the international marketplace, especially in America.
Cox said: “My core expertise is in placing great product into a diverse retail base on an international basis. Understanding the retailer’s needs is fundamental and I have spent the past five to ten years helping independent retailers to grow their sales.
“I am very much looking forward to with Gecko stockists to do the same,” he added.
Under Cox’s guidance Gecko plans to introduce a number of promotional items for the independent retail sector, including free-standing units, point-of-sale and display materials to “help retailers seize opportunities for better incremental sales whilst also building a stronger consumer-facing identity for the brand”.
Cox also has plans to make the North America market his priority, as he has existing expertise in this geography.
Andrew Morton, chief executive of WB The Creative Jewellery Group, of which Gecko is a part, said: “Gecko had [a] very successful fair at Basel this year and I have no doubt that Richard’s appointment as a dedicated and highly professional sales director will help the brand to capitalise on the contacts made and to grow its market penetration and brand awareness both in the UK and overseas.”
