Watchfinder watchmaker becomes first female accredited by Omega
A watchmaker at pre-owned watch retail firm Watchfinder has become the first female to be accredited by Omega.
One of nine watchmakers at the company, Sarah-Jane King, has passed her evaluation and has been awarded the Omega qualification through the watch brand’s parent company Swatch Group UK.
The accreditation coincided with the completion of her Watchfinder watchmaking apprenticeship, making Kind the first fully-accredited watchmaker to have undergone her training solely at Watchfinder.
She studied for the apprenticeship under the guidance of the company’s head watchmaker, and former Rolex and Breitling senior watchmaker, Tony Williams.
King said: “Overall I am really proud to have achieved this certification so early on in my career, hopefully I can encourage more women to take up watchmaking in the future.
“I am looking forward to learning new and more complex calibers and focusing on one day becoming a senior watchmaker”
Watchfinder’s service centre, is the only independent UK based service centre which holds certification for all of the following luxury Swiss watch brands collectively; Omega, IWC, Panerai, Cartier and Audemars Piguet.
