Flawless Jewellery sponsors British paratriathlon champion
Family-run Flawless Jewellery, based in Kent, has announced a sponsorship agreement with British paratriathlon champion Cassie Cava.
Cava, 24, who was born with clubfeet, broke her right foot six years ago and underwent reconstruction surgery, which was not as successful as hoped. After years of painful hospital appointments she made the brave decision to have her foot amputated in October 2014.
Just three months after the surgery Cava was was running on her new prosthetic leg, taking part in her first ever relay triathlon for the Arctic One Foundation in June 2015.
She then cycled from London to Paris in 2015, before gaining a place on the Great Britain (GB) Paratriathlon Talent Squad.
Cava was crowned British triathlon champion at the championships this weekend in Liverpool.
Having also taken up snowboarding, Cava is now on the GB Para-Snowboard Team. She is now training hard in the off-season, preparing for the World Championships in Canada and Paralympic Test Event in Pyeongchang next winter.
As part of the sponsorship, Flawless Jewellery has used one of its own original engraving designs – a cherry blossom that can be found on its handmade jeweller – to custom wrap Cava’s racing snowboard and prosthetic leg socket to match.
It is also planning to create Cassie X Flawless key rings to sell and auction in order to help raise money for charity and to support Cava’s next snowboarding season.
Kaylie Flawless, manager of the company’s Chislehurst shop, and who designed Cava’s cherry blossom snowboard, said: “It’s very exciting for us to be sponsoring Cassie and trying out something that we’ve never done before.
“We wanted to give Cassie a board that’s pretty and feminine and embodies what we’re about, but that keeps to traditional snowboard styles.”
