Christie’s Michele della Valle sale fetches £574,000
All of the 65 lots offered were sold, with many greatly exceeding their initial estimates
Christie’s has announced the results of its online sale The Colorful Whimsy: Jewels by Michele della Valle which achieved a total of $799,125 (£574,000), 193% above its low estimate.
The top lot of the sale was a pair of yellow sapphire, tsavorite garnet, and diamond lemon earrings which sold for $75,000 (£53,900) against the low estimate of $7,000 (£5,000). All of the 65 lots offered were sold with many greatly exceeding their initial estimates.
Other items included a topaz, cultured pearl and diamond earrings which sold for $21,250 (£15,100), a diamond and yellow sapphire pendant which sold for $22,500 (£16,200) and a red agate diamond and tsavorite earrings which went under the hammer for a price realised of $37,500 (£27,000).
