HB Antwerp establishes training academy
It will feature training for prospective diamond specialists, courses for jewellery retailer customer-facing representatives, and an internal continual education programme for the group’s employees
HB Antwerp has announced the launch of a state-of-the-art training and knowledge centre for diamond specialists and jewellers, HB Academy.
Based in Antwerp, the academy will feature training for prospective diamond specialists, courses for jewellery retailer customer-facing representatives, and an internal continual education programme for the group’s employees.
Moreover, a technical course for those wishing to learn the craft of diamond polishing will take place three times a year, with eight prospective polishers then selected to advance to a 12-week training course.
The successful candidates to complete the training will be offered a role at HB Antwerp, with further polishing courses to then take place.
Margaux Donckier, director of corporate affairs at the company, said: “The combination of innovative technology, experienced craftsmanship and transparency is the hallmark of HB Antwerp.
“HB Academy marks the first full-fledged, Antwerp-based training center for those in the diamond trade in decades. HB Antwerp is proud to contribute to the emergence of Antwerp as an international center for diamond knowledge and expertise.”
An additional course centred on the “nuances of rough and polished diamonds” is targeted at sales staff to enhance their understanding of the products they sell.
Bart De Wever, mayor of Antwerp, added: “Through cutting edge technology and knowledge transfer we are ensuring that our diamond sector remains competitive at an international level.
“With the arrival of the HB Academy, Antwerp has an extra trump card in its hands to prepare the professionals of tomorrow.”
