Yala Jewellery to cease trading
Yala became the first British jewellery business to achieve B corp status in 2019
Ethical African jewellery brand Yala Jewellery has announced that it will cease trading at the end of the month.
The company stated that it would cease trading so founder and chief executive Audrey Migot-Adholla could “focus on other aspects of her life”.
The company announced that all of its products will be on sale for 50% off. It also confirmed that all the artisans it works with are paid upfront so the sale won’t affect the money they are paid.
Migot-Adholla said: “Firstly, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been a part of Yala. From our wonderful customers, to the talented artisans in Kenya, and every single person who has helped and supported me along the way.It’s been five years of blood, sweat, tears and a lot of joy, but now it’s time for me to move on.
“Yala will close as a profitable business and one that I am overwhelmingly proud of. I didn’t do it alone, so every single person who has been involved along the way should be proud too — you helped make Yala great.”
Yala became the first British jewellery business to achieve B corp status in 2019.
The brand works with local artisans in the village of Yala, Kenya to create sustainable and ethical jewellery.
