Independent fine jewellery consultant, Joanna Hardy, has announced an online foundation course offering access to workshops and opportunities to work with craftspeople responsible for some of the worlds finest jewellery.

Students will learn techniques and skills used by master craftspeople, offering advice on how to select jewellery in an informed way and demonstrate how to best care for it.

The course features interviews with designers like Shaun Lee, known for his work with Alexander McQueen, as well as revealing the inner workings of Wartski, Bentley and Skinner, Yoko London, Monnickendam Diamonds and Gemfields among others.

Learners can also join small classes with personally critiqued assignments priced at £1,358, which include eight tutorials, lifetime access to course content, optional assignments and a flexible study programme.

Hardy has over 30 years of experience in the jewellery industry, with a history of valuing rough diamonds for De Beers, being a polished diamond dealer in Antwerp and working in Philips Auctioneers and Sotheby’s.

She said: “My intention is to create a world class online jewellery school, where enthusiastic amateurs or professionals can be introduced to the world of jewellery.

“This is my first foundation course. I’m expecting people ranging from interested hobbyists, career changers and professionals wanting to improve their knowledge – right through to members of the boutique high end jewellery trade.”
