Gem-A CEO steps down
It was established in 1908 by the National Association of Goldsmiths and in the mid-90s, evolved into a UK Education Charity
The board and trustees of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A) has announced that Alan Hart has decided to step down as chief executive officer.
The board of directors has unanimously accepted Hart’s resignation after eight years of leadership.
It has also assured students and members of Gem-A that its standards will not slip as it searches for a new CEO.
Hart said: “It has been a privilege to have led the Gemmological Association of Great Britain over the last eight years, providing services to our membership and the wider gems and jewellery industry. I feel fortunate to have been supported by a committed staff team, the Gem-A board of trustees, and our international partners.
“I am immensely proud of all that we have been able to achieve, especially navigating the association through the challenges of the last few years to where it is today – a strong, resilient, and forward-looking organisation with a flourishing future.”
Gem-A provides education in gemmology as well as offering a uniting network to gem enthusiasts and jewellers alike.
