The Jewelers Circle launches online trading platform

The Jewelers Circle has announced the launch of an international online trading platform intended to expand the trade show model “in support of the jewellery industry’s current needs”. The group said the move comes after recognising a “demand for a safe alternative to in-person trade events, where the fine and antique jewelry industry can source and sell products, gemstones, timepieces and other collectibles”. The platform was developed “for the trade by the trade”, according to the group, which added that it aims to help its exhibitors reach new clients, and to help retailers and other trade professionals widen their network for sourcing and comparing goods. The platform reportedly utilises proprietary technology designed with the direct input of the founders of the International Antique Jewelry Association (IAJA) to “ensure easy navigation and an overall seamless experience”. The platform will host a four-day online trade show every 4-5 weeks, which will allow retailers and trade professionals to engage with exhibitors. Visitors can also browse thousands of listings through powerful sorting filters and searches, and then save items to a personal product ‘watchlist’. All exhibitor will be granted virtual booths, which can be open for every day fo the year. Both exhibitors and visitors have access to the entire platform and may place calls for specific items, either posting to the entire global network or targeting specific exhibitors. Potential subscribers must submit an application to access the site, and all subscriptions will be “considered upon furnishing proof of business, identity, and three trade references”. They will also only be available to trade professionals. The Jewelers Circle is currently sponsored by Ferrari Shipping, NCDIA, GemGèneve, and the Jewels and Gems Society of Singapore.
